The wait is almost over. Little Italy’s long-anticipated Harbor Breakfast will likely debut this Wednesday at the corner of India and W. Beech.
The tables are set and biscuits are on the oven…literally. When we stopped by this afternoon, chef and operator Eddie Hernandez said he’s been fine-tuning all his new equipment and had a batch of biscuits in the oven to make sure his recipes are perfectly adjusted to all his new tools.
We’ve watched for months as the former home of Harbor Marine Supplies has transformed into an inviting breakfast diner. The interior is warm with rich, dark woods.
Behind the counter, the dishes are stacked and ready for diners.
Doors slide open to allow access to the outdoor booths along W. Beech Street.
The nearly 100% organic Harbor Breakfast menu includes waffles, omelettes, and classic breakfast combos like corned beef hash and biscuits & gravy.
Check back in just a few days for your newest neighborhood breakfast joint.
Little Italy residents clamoring for another breakfast option will finally be able to check out Harbor Breakfast by the end of the month. The owner says he hopes to open within the next three weeks, pending inspections.
Coffee machines! Chairs! It’s finally almost ready.
In addition to breakfast and lunch hours, they plan to try offering their breakfast menu for dinner on the weekends. That’s something we’ll totally support.
When it opens, they’ll add four tables along India Street to bring the restaurant outside. We also learned that they have room to expand into another small space next door—a narrow room currently being used for storage. If that happens, it’ll be after they settle into their groove in the main restaurant space.
We’re still following the progress at Harbor Breakfast, the new cafe slowly coming together at 1502 India Street in Little Italy. We previously anticipated a spring opening, but that came and went. The good news is that they’ve posted a sign in the front window that says they’re opening soon and are currently looking for experienced cooks for breakfast and lunch.
Let’s hope it won’t be long before we’re enjoying pancakes out here. We’ll be here every weekend.
The restaurant isn’t huge, but there should be additional tables outside along India Street, in addition to the booths along W. Beech Street.
Hello, in there! Need some help? We took woodshop in high school, so we’re obviously experts.
Those black and white umbrellas will go outside over the booths. Once complete, this should be a lively corner at the start of Little Italy’s main drag.
We stopped by Harbor Breakfast on our way through Little Italy yesterday. Since our first update a week ago, they’ve completed some nice tile along the back, and the diner counter is looking great.
Have we mentioned how much we love the big lettering along Beech Street?
It’s getting there.
It shouldn’t be long before there’s another great spot for brunch in Little Italy.
We’ve had our eye on the corner of India and Beech for the last several months as the new Harbor Breakfast has taken shape. After a delay, the former home of Harbor Marine Supplies is finally set to open as a new breakfast and lunch cafe by next month.
Taking a peek inside, the large diner-style counter is coming together.
With so few places in Little Italy serving breakfast, expect Harbor Breakfast to be a big hit. We’re looking forward to sipping our morning coffee in one of those outdoor booths. We just hope some cushions are on the way.
