The new Waterfront Park at the County Administration Center is now open, and it’s even better than we anticipated. Area residents have already been enjoying the 12-acre development, which opened a week ago.
The fountains span the entire length of the park on both sides of the County building. Kind of makes us wish we were kids again.
They say that these large lawns can accommodate 3,900 people on the north side and 2,900 people on the south side. That’s a lot of room for picnics and sun tanning.
Where did all these kids come from?
It’s already beautiful, but it’ll be even prettier when these jacarandas bloom. There are over 200 new trees in the park.
We can’t wait for these drought-tolerant gardens to fill in. Remember, all of this used to be a parking lot.
Be sure to add the new Waterfront Park to your list of places to take out-of-town visitors. With Little Italy nearby and the Maritime Museum of San Diego right across the street, this is a great addition to the Downtown waterfront.
